Sean Gesell

I jumped from producing movies, to replacing underground utility vaults... a very common career path!

I like playing soccer in the rain because of how far you can slide on the wet grass...

Sean Gesell and Gesell Industries is working with an emerging technology in the world of underground utility vaults. The Voltek System provides a safer, cost conscious, time efficient and environmentally friendly alternative for replacing decaying or contaminated underground utility vaults or enclosures. A whole world of infrastructure exists beneath our feet and roads, but with long-term exposure to water intrusion, electricity and heat, and other factors, precast concrete begins to decay. By eliminating the large footprint of heavy equipment and machinery, excessive lane closures and barriers, excavation of the contaminated vault, and the need for chipping concrete away from live wires, Voltek System is redefining the standards of utility vault replacement.

Sean is also a film and television producer, with a slate of projects, including a Movember movie to be written by Steve Faber (WEDDING CRASHERS) and a prison thriller to be directed by VFX guru Andy Fowler (300, NOAH, THE REVENANT). Sean is the former Vice President of Production & Development at Zucker Productions, a film and television production company, owned by acclaimed writer/director/producer Jerry Zucker and his producer wife Janet Zucker. In his 9 years there, he was an Associate Producer on the River Road/Participant Media film FAIR GAME, starring Sean Penn and Naomi Watts. Sean moved up to Co-Producer on the film MENTAL, written and directed by PJ Hogan and starring Toni Collette and Liev Schreiber, before becoming a Producer on the original television movie musical DEAR DUMB DIARY with Walden Media/Walmart/Procter & Gamble in 2013. Gesell was an original founder and key entertainment advisor to the National Academy of Sciences during the launch of The Science & Entertainment Exchange. He remains actively involved with The Exchange as a member of its Advisory Board and routinely works with Exchange staff to help guide the program’s growth and development.
