Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual, Joel played professional baseball for the Florida Marlins. After a stint in the minor leagues, Joel attended law school and earned his Juris Doctorate. He briefly practiced law before beginning his search for a career change. He started his career in financial services in 2016 when he joined Northwestern Mutual as a Financial Representative. Wanting to be a part of a larger practice, he joined DJM in 2018 as an Advisor. His client-facing role is especially important to the firm’s practice, particularly in the areas of non-qualified executive benefit planning as well as complex business and estate planning.
Joel graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. He also graduated from Western State College of law with his Juris Doctorate and has completed his CFP designation.
Joel grew up in Vancouver, Washington and resides in Newport Beach, California. He loves living in Southern California for the sunny weather and easy access to the beach and the mountains. In his free time, Joel enjoys an active lifestyle often playing basketball, golf and skiing. Outside of work he stays involved in his community through volunteering at his local church.
